JBL is an audio company founded in 1946 by James B. Lansing in Los Angeles, California. Known for its amplifiers, loudspeakers, and headphones, JBL has played a significant role in professional and consumer audio, including powering the sound systems at Woodstock and being the basis for the THX loudspeaker standard. JBL is a subsidiary of Harman International Industries, which is owned by Samsung Electronics.
