Founded in 1938 by Lee Byung-chul as a trading company, Samsung is the largest chaebol (business conglomerate) in South Korea, headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul. It has diversified into various sectors over the decades and is known for specializing in consumer and industrial electronics, including appliances, televisions, smartphones, semiconductors, and memory chips. As of 2024, Samsung holds the world’s fifth-highest brand value.
